Distributed Data Systems

Our research on distributed data systems aims to achieve linear horizontal scalable ingest of metrics, logs, events, tracing, and other data as well as efficient queries on these distributed datasets, supporting complex statements.

Dynatrace deals with a continuous stream of arbitrary data that needs to be stored and queried efficiently. Our mission statement is to achieve linear, scalable, ingest of metrics, logs, events, tracing and other data as well as efficient execution of complex queries. Our research in distributed data systems focuses on the fundamentals of storage and distributed systems. Examples of research topics are: data compression algorithms, data indexing algorithms and data structures that can be stored efficiently on disk without losing data quality (with or without losing data resolution). Another focus is on technology research: new technologies are evaluated regarding their relevance and applicability for distributed data platforms.
